Vince Who? Colt Passes Vince Young for All Time Total Touchdowns in Texas

83, that's the number of touchdowns you'd have to amass for the Longhorns to pass the new all time leader Colt McCoy. Let's be honest you'll probably need somewhere closer to around 150 by the time Colt heads to the NFL in 2010, because he's still got half this season and all the 2009 season to add to that total. As they say records are made to be broken, but who would have thought Vince's replacement would be the one to knock him off the heap.

McCoy named Freshman of the Year by the Touchdown Club of Columbus

Colt officially joined the ranks of Longhorn Football Eliete by joining former Longhorns Major Applewhite and Vince Young as the National Freshman of the Year from the Touchdown Club of Columbus. A banquet was held on Saturday, Feb. 10th at the TCC in Ohio who over the years has honored over 2000 atheletes and some of the greatest football players to ever take the field.

The Sporting News National Freshman of the Year Award Given to Colt McCoy

In what is begining to be a lengthy list of accolades; Colt has been named National Freshman of the Year by The Sporting News. His accomplishments for the seasaon include completing 191 of his 278 passes, accumulating 2,262 yards and completing 27 TD’s. The passing yardage ranks him 3rd all time on UT’s freshman list and the TD’s place him as the second highest for a single season in NCAA history and defenatively at the top spot for a single season at the University of Texas.

Colt Announced as Davey O’Brien Semifinalist

It was announced today that Colt made the Semifinalist list for the coveted 2006 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award. The award is given to the nation’s best college quarterback, and the selection committie is comprised of a national group of sportswriters, commentators and former O’Brien Award winners. The three award finalist will be announced in November by the National College Football Awards Association.
