Colt officially joined the ranks of Longhorn Football Eliete by joining former Longhorns Major Applewhite and Vince Young as the National Freshman of the Year from the Touchdown Club of Columbus. A banquet was held on Saturday, Feb. 10th at the TCC in Ohio who over the years has honored over 2000 atheletes and some of the greatest football players to ever take the field.

In what is begining to be a lengthy list of accolades; Colt has been named National Freshman of the Year by The Sporting News. His accomplishments for the seasaon include completing 191 of his 278 passes, accumulating 2,262 yards and completing 27 TD’s. The passing yardage ranks him 3rd all time on UT’s freshman list and the TD’s place him as the second highest for a single season in NCAA history and defenatively at the top spot for a single season at the University of Texas.

It was announced today that Colt made the Semifinalist list for the coveted 2006 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award. The award is given to the nation’s best college quarterback, and the selection committie is comprised of a national group of sportswriters, commentators and former O’Brien Award winners. The three award finalist will be announced in November by the National College Football Awards Association.
