Putting an end to the debate over who would take Vince Young’s place at the helm of the Longhorn offense; Mac Brown announced on Monday that Colt McCoy would be filling the void that Vince left behind. Colt knew that heading into camp he would be battling with Javan Sneed for the position, but hours in the weight room and great summer showing have earned him the spot. Brown did point out that he would like to see both Colt and Javan in the upcoming game against North Texas but he did not know at what point in the game Javan would see action.
Having won the starting spot is a testament to Colt’s work ethic; having been a red shirt freshman last year he had the opportunity to really get accustomed to the UT offense before being placed into a real game situation. The struggle for McCoy now lies with gaining the respect and admiration of millions of Longhorn fans; hopefully he will step up to the challenge as he did in the off season.
